Yodeling
Yodeling (also jodeling) is a form of singing that involves repeated and rapid changes of pitch between the low-pitch chest voice and the high-pitch head register or falsetto. The English word yodel is derived from the German (and originally Austro-Bavarian) word jodeln, meaning „to utter the syllable jo“ (pronounced „yo“ in English). This vocal technique is used in many cultures worldwide.
Doreen (Kutzkelina) is giving you a brief introduction into Yodelling and teaches you a short Christmas yodel to please your relatives (and neighbours;-).
Yodeling has its own vowel and consonant combinations specific to different languages. This workshop hosted by our fabulous Yodelcoach Kutzkelina will give you an insight into the diversity of yodelling worldwide.

Kulning Part I & Part II
In Scandinavia, a unique singing technique evolved across the centuries to call the cows home from the pastures for the evening: Kulning. The age-old technique was traditionally used to call free-roaming animals like cows, sheeps and goats and leading them back to their stables. Kulning, the ancient Swedish herdingcall, is a loud and very high pitch form of song that can be heard over far distances.
In the first part you will get a short introduction to the origins of this singing technique. You will learn about the special tone scale and its roots. Karin will give you some examples of Herding songs as well as different call-outs for the animals.
In the second part of the workshop Karin teaches you concrete exercises to activate your call-out voice. We recommend to watch KULNING Workshop – Part I.

White Voice Singing Part I & Part II
White voice or white singing is a contemporary name, used usually in Eastern Europe, for a traditional singing style that is based on ‘open throat singing technique’. A characteristic feature of this kind of voice is its brightness, clearness (not in the meaning of voice color) or intensity. It has been practiced since ancient times among the rural population in Central and Eastern Europe.
A brief introduction into the White-Voice Singing Technique. Some voice warm-up and breathing exercises and an excerpt of a traditional Polish song.
Based on the first part, Paulina demonstrates a few more vocal warm-up exercises. She teaches a self-written song based on the White Voice singing technique.
